Half of Brazilian voters fear communist takeover, poll reveals

A recent survey conducted by Datafolha indicates that a significant portion of Brazilian voters, 52% to be precise, believe there is a risk of Brazil becoming a communist country.

Among those surveyed, 39% consider this risk to be entirely true, while 19% perceive it as partially true.

The survey, released on Saturday night, also revealed that 42% of respondents disagree with the notion that Brazil could become communist, with 30% strongly disagreeing and 12% holding a partial disagreement.

Meanwhile, 7% of participants either expressed uncertainty or held neutral views on the matter.

In addition to concerns about communism, the survey shed light on the ongoing ideological divide between supporters of the Workers’ Party (PT) and supporters of President Bolsonaro.

Out of those surveyed, 29% identified themselves as dedicated PT supporters, while 25% considered themselves ardent Bolsonaro supporters.

The survey encompassed a total of 2,010 individuals aged 16 and above across 112 municipalities.

Data collection took place from June 12 to 14. The maximum estimated margin of error is two percentage points higher or lower.
