The Gross Value of Production of agriculture and cattle ranching (GVP), considered the GDP of the agricultural sector, should grow about 5% throughout 2023.
The Ministry of Agriculture (MAPA) released the projection this Tuesday, 18.
According to the Map, this year’s agricultural GDP should close with gains of R$56 billion (US$11.17 billion) over 2022.

The value is a record of the ministry’s historical series.
The impetus for the increase comes from agriculture, whose growth is estimated at 8%, with the result closing at almost R$880 million.
“A group of five crops, formed by soybean, corn, coffee, sugar cane, and cotton, should generate R$726.7 billion,” corresponding to almost 90% of the crops’ figure.
“The grain harvest, forecasted at 312.5 million tonnes, together with the increase in productivity, are decisive for the results in 2023,” the agency noted.
At the same time, the Gross Value of Livestock Production should shrink by 3%, falling to R$350 billion.
The beef and chicken sector pulled the result down, with R$17.5 billion in losses.
STATES WITH THE HIGHEST AGRICULTURAL GDP
In Brazil, five states account for 60% of all the wealth generated in the field.
In first place is Mato Grosso (R$210 billion), followed by Paraná (R$162 billion), São Paulo (R$ 42 billion), Minas Gerais (R$131 billion), and Rio Grande do Sul (R$100 billion).
