In Brazil, 1,331,940 companies were opened between January and April this year. On average, opening a company in the first four months of the year took one day and six hours.
Moreover, the total number of openings was 21.8% higher than in the previous four-month period and 1.6% lower than in 2022.
According to the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce, and Services, over 21 million active CNPJs are nationwide.
Of these, 93.7% are micro or small companies. The data are contained in the Companies Map, prepared by the ministry in partnership with the Federal Service for Data Processing (Serpro).
The survey shows the profile of the companies by size, sector, and field of activity and the clippings by state and municipality.
In absolute numbers, São Paulo was the state with the most companies opened in the four months, followed by Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Bahia, and Goiás.
Together, these states account for 75% of all Brazilian companies.
In terms of percentage growth, however, the states that advanced the most over the previous four-month period, the last one in 2022, were Tocantins (34.8%), Mato Grosso (32.9%), Rondônia (29.9%), Paraná (28.2%), and Roraima (27.1%).
