Brazil is the only one capable of tripling food production without deforesting – Lupion
For the president of the Parliamentary Front for Agriculture and Cattle Raising (FPA), Federal Congressman Pedro Lupion (PP-PR), Brazil is criticized by other countries, mainly for being the only one able to achieve world leadership in food production without deforesting.
The issue was discussed at a meeting of the FPA with members of the Ministry of Environment on Tuesday 11.
“We need to focus on technical issues. Brazil is the only country on the planet capable of tripling food production; the other nations know and worry about this,” he said.

“For this reason, they try to make our country bend rules created by themselves and get the reputation of not following rules.”
“On the contrary, we have the strictest laws and are agro-environmental.”
Lupion stressed that Brazil could carry out proposals that will contribute even more to the search for zero illegal deforestation and maintain the country as a global protagonist.
“Brazil can and will be even bigger.”
“The agriculture and cattle sector has the opportunity to help with the zero carbon credit, the land title regularization, the pesticides bill, the self-control, to position itself as a leader far ahead of the others.”
“We are on the path of dialogue and building bridges, which are so necessary”.
Federal congressman Zé Vitor (PL-MG) pointed out that the Front has no party colors and that dialogue and bridge-building will always be benchmarks.
“Taking care of the environment is everyone’s obligation, and, for this reason, whoever wants the best for the sector will be welcome,” he said.
The executive secretary of the Ministry of the Environment, João Paulo Capobianco, attended the meeting and reaffirmed the willingness to build an agenda with the bench.
Capobianco said he had a “disarmed spirit” to debate without ideologies and to find results for developing the agriculture and cattle sector and Brazil.
At the end of the meeting, the secretary affirmed that he would also talk to the government about pesticides.
“We have numerous differences, but we have many convergent points in our ideas, especially the desire to achieve zero illegal deforestation, effectuate the issues related to the carbon credit, and continue making the country an agro-environmental nation.”
