Pro-Bolsonaro uprising affect fuel delivery in at least five Brazilian states

The distribution of fuel to service stations in the states of Goiás, Mato Grosso, São Paulo, Santa Catarina, and Rio Grande do Sul has been affected by roadblocks, reported the president of Fecombustíveis, James Thorp Neto, on Tuesday, November 1.

Thorp Neto told Poder360 that there is still no shortage, but the blockades “have already taken deliveries to the stations out of normality”. According to him, the stations are managing to meet the demand with existing stocks.

Questioned by Poder360, the Sindipetro-SC (Santa Catarina Petroleum Derivatives Retail Trade Union) informed that about 95% of the stations in the state are receiving new loads of fuel.

In Rio Grande do Sul, Sulpetro (Sindicato Intermunicipal do Comércio Varejista de Combustíveis e Lubrificantes do Estado do RS) said that distribution was affected, with a lower volume of fuel being delivered. In addition, the stations have registered higher demand.

“The stations, since yesterday [Monday], were surprised with a high demand for gasoline and diesel. The stations usually already have low stocks. It has caused difficulty.

“When we place an order with a distributor, it usually takes overnight,” said Sulpetro’s president, João Carlos Dal’Aqua.

In Mato Grosso, Sindipetro informed that some fuel distributors have already informed that the supply will be cut off as of this Tuesday (November 1). The tendency is that some gas stations in the state will still be short of fuel on Tuesday (November 1).

Poder360 has contacted the São Paulo gas stations union but had no answer as of the publication of this report.

According to the last update from the PRF (Federal Highway Police) at 2:27 PM on Tuesday, November 1, vehicles are blocked or hindered at three points on the highways of Rio Grande do Sul, 37 in Santa Catarina, 9 in São Paulo, and 26 in Mato Grosso.
