Ballot box weaknesses altered Brazil’s election results, says Bolsonaro’s PL party
The party asks for the annulment of the result of 250,000 ballot boxes compromised with flaws. If this is done, Bolsonaro will win the election with 51% of the votes.
During a press conference held mid-afternoon on Tuesday (Nov. 22), the president of the Liberal Party (PL, right), Valdemar Costa Neto, said that weaknesses in the ballot boxes detected in a private audit affected the outcome of this year’s presidential elections.
Earlier in the day, the party sent the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) a report with the audit’s conclusions.
It points out inconsistencies in five ballot box models previous to the 2020 model (2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, and 2015).

In all the old ballot boxes, according to an audit of the TSE data, the former prisoner Lula da Silva beat President Bolsonaro.
The problem is that the old models do not have serial numbers, preventing the votes from being audited.
In addition, the technicians hired by the PL also identified the violation of the secrecy of the vote during the process of resetting devices that presented problems during voting.
“The flaws evidenced in this representation deserve a serious, thorough and impartial investigation by this Electoral Court,” says an excerpt from the document sent to the TSE.
According to the PL, 250,000 ballot boxes have been compromised. The party is asking for the annulment of the votes counted in these machines.
If the party’s request is granted, the election result will change, and President Bolsonaro will be declared the winner with 51.05% of the votes.
