Brazil national soccer team declines in market value of players, is now world’s 4th most expensive soccer team
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Brazil has just achieved early qualification for the World Cup-2022. But, in the international scenario of the Ball Market, the five-time World Cup champion soccer players are not so valued.
According to “Transfermarkt”, a website specialized in covering the buying and selling of athletes of the most popular sport on the planet, Tite’s team fell one position in the ranking of the most valuable teams.
In the survey conducted this year, Brazil was overtaken by Germany, lost its place on the podium, and now appears as the fourth most expensive national team on the planet.

According to the platform, the ideal Brazilian national team is currently valued at 590 million euros (US$678 million), a reduction of almost 17% in relation to the estimate made in December 2020.
By ideal team, we mean the lineup assembled with the most expensive players in each position.
In Brazil’s case, this team would be set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Alisson (Liverpool); Emerson Royal (Tottenham), Marquinhos (PSG), Diego Carlos (Sevilla), and Renan Lodi (Atlético de Madrid); Casemiro (Real Madrid) and Fabinho (Liverpool); Rodrygo (Real Madrid), Lucas Paquetá (Lyon), and Neymar (PSG); Gabriel Jesus (Manchester City).
Compared to last year’s survey, there were three changes in the lineup. Arthur (Juventus), Philippe Coutinho (Barcelona), and Roberto Firmino (Liverpool) gave up their places to Fabinho, Paquetá, and Jesus, respectively.
According to “Transfermarkt”, England, France, and Germany have more valuable national teams than Brazil. As in 2020, the English continue to lead and are now the only country whose ideal team costs more than 700 million euros (R$ 4.4 billion).
The last two world champions have lineups in the region of 600 million euros (US$690 million). The French winners in 2018 maintained the previous year’s second place, while the Germans, who won the trophy in 2014, moved up from fourth to third place.
The ten most expensive teams in the world remain the same as 11 months ago. But in addition to the swapping of positions between Brazil and Germany, there has been another change in the rankings.
Italy has seen some of its key players appreciate after winning the EURO-2020 title. As a result, they overtook Belgium and took over sixth place in the ranking.
The list of the most expensive teams of today proves the current supremacy of Europe over South America. Of the ten countries in the top 10, eight are European. Brazil and Argentina are the only exceptions.
Among the teams from other continents, the most valuable at the moment is Africa’s Senegal. Liverpool star Sadio Mané’s team is valued at 278.2 million Euros (US$319 million).
Besides Brazil, only two other teams (Denmark and Germany) have already qualified for the World Cup, along with host Qatar in next year’s tournament.
Still undefeated in the South American qualifiers, Tite’s team has only one more match to play on this important date. Next Tuesday, they face a classic against Argentina, second in the tournament, at the Bicentenario Stadium in San Juan.
