Brazil’s Strategic Leap in Science and Defense

Brazil is building the Orion Complex, a unique super-laboratory, at the National Center for Research in Energy and Materials in Campinas.

Set for completion by 2026, this facility will research dangerous pathogens. It’s a first in Latin America.

Also, the complex will work closely with the Sirius particle accelerator.

This project is part of Brazil’s broader defense and technology focus. The Nova Indústria Brasil plan targets self-reliance in defense technologies by 2033.

Brazil is advancing in areas like nuclear energy, satellite systems, and military technology.

The Brazilian Navy is creating a nuclear submarine and updating its fleet. The Prosub program includes a nuclear-powered submarine.

Additionally, the Sisgaaz system will monitor Brazil’s coastlines.

The Brazilian Army emphasizes cyberdefense and border security. They are acquiring new tank destroyers and developing a cruise missile.

The Air Force is upgrading its fleet with new aircraft like the Embraer KC-390 Millennium and SAAB F.39 Gripen.

They’re also focusing on space technologies and updating navigation systems.

The Ministry of Defense manages helicopter programs and technological research. It’s also improving command and control systems.

State investments are boosting radar, hypersonic vehicles, and nuclear fuel production.
