Elon Musk raises Twitter read limits after controversial restriction

Billionaire Elon Musk has announced an increase in the number of tweets that users can read on Twitter, just one day after implementing access restrictions.

Verified accounts will now have a daily read limit of 10,000 posts, unverified accounts will be limited to 1,000 posts, and new unverified accounts will have a limit of up to 500 tweets.

Initially, Musk had set lower limits of 6,000, 600, and 300 posts, respectively.

Musk’s primary reason for implementing these access restrictions is to combat “data scraping,” which is used to power artificial intelligence tools such as ChatGPT and Bard.

He expressed frustration over companies collecting massive amounts of data for AI purposes, stating that it can disrupt the platform and harm users.

The new policy aims to address these concerns by limiting views.

While Musk was a co-founder of OpenAI, the organization responsible for developing ChatGPT, he distanced himself from the company in 2018 due to a conflict of interest with his Tesla vehicle factory.

However, he recently expressed his intention to invest more in artificial intelligence. Musk plans to launch an AI system called TruthGPT, which aims to seek absolute truth and understand the nature of the universe.

This move by Elon Musk comes amidst ongoing debates about data privacy, AI ethics, and the impact of large-scale data collection.

The adjustments to Twitter’s reading limits seek to strike a balance between enabling AI advancements and protecting user experiences on the platform.
