Clothing and accessories are the main items of desire in the metaverse

New research by Capterra, a software comparison platform, reveals the willingness of the Brazilian public to make purchases through the metaverse.
The online study heard the opinion of 1008 people, from all regions of Brazil, in October 2022 to evaluate and understand the interest of Brazilians in this type of online commerce.
The survey showed that most respondents (87%) would be interested in shopping in the metaverse.

Of those who would make purchases in the metaverse, 8 out of 10 respondents (81%) indicated that “clothes” is the main type of product they would be interested in buying in this digital environment.
It is not by chance that the public is excited about the possibility of buying clothes in the metaverse since the fashion universe is one of the main sectors that promise to be impacted by this immersive technology.
Today, major brands are already investing in the launch of clothing, or “skins,” to be used in games such as Fortnite and League of Legends.
In the future, the success of a virtual garment may be a determining factor in whether companies decide to replicate it in the physical world, reducing waste in the fashion industry.
The data also shows expectations around improving product visualization in commerce via the metaverse.
“Of the participants who are interested in buying in the metaverse, just over half see the possibility of testing products using augmented reality as the main advantage of the modality,” comments Marcela Gava, analyst responsible for the study.
In the metaverse, the presentation of goods in virtual stores is expected to reflect their size, shape, and texture in the real world.
Metaverse and the future shopping pattern Despite being far from reaching its point of maturity – which should occur only in 2030, according to Gartner forecasts – the participants of the Capterra study already see a promising future for the metaverse.
Of the respondents interested in shopping in this virtual universe, 57% believe that it will replace e-commerce as we know it today and will be the standard for shopping in the future.
Those who believe it is a trend that will disappear are a minority: only 3% of the study participants.
