The payments tool allows users to transfer money through the App. “It’s as easy as sending a picture,” said Zuckerberg at the conference, adding that the feature has been tested with one million people in India, with good user responsiveness. “I’m really excited about this and I hope that the feature will start being launched in several countries and that we will make progress in this area in the next six months,” he said.

According to the company, WhatsApp Payments will be incorporated into the Facebook Pay framework, the social media payment platform, announced last year. It allows users to transfer money or make payments, compatible with different credit and debit card carriers in addition to PayPal. Currently, this feature is only available in the U.S.
