Brazilian wines shine on global stage with Decanter gold medal

Brazilian wines are gaining global recognition and awards, and Ferreira winery in the Serra da Mantiqueira region recently won a gold medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA) in London.

The DWWA is a prestigious event with experts from around the world evaluating thousands of labels.

Ferreira impressed the judges with their Piquant Soléil dry red wine vintage 2022, made from 100% Syrah grapes, which received a score of 95 points.

The Decanter award holds immense prestige in the industry, and Ferreira winery is now one of only two Brazilian wineries to achieve this distinction.

Alongside Ametié, they have been crafting wines in the Serra da Mantiqueira region for 13 years.

In addition to their gold-winning wine, Ferreira received three silver medals and one bronze medal for their other labels.

The winery, founded by technology entrepreneur Dormovil Ferreira, has been steadily gaining recognition.

Their wines consistently received silver medals at Decanter since 2019, with multiple labels scoring above 90 points.

The award-winning Piquant Soléil 2022 vintage is priced at R$ 499 and is available for purchase through the winery’s e-commerce platform.

The wine, crafted by winemaker Isabela Peregrino, offers aromas of black fruits, spicy flavors, and bold tannins.

Ferreira winery started small but has grown significantly under Dormovil Ferreira’s leadership.

They now cultivate 15 grape varieties across 100 hectares, producing an average of 10 tons of grapes annually.

Since 2019, they have crafted over 30,000 bottles of premium wines and earned numerous medals in international competitions.
