Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay move towards electricity integration
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – According to information released on Wednesday (1), the Argentine-Paraguayan Yacyretá power plant conducted the second synchronization test between the Argentine Interconnection System (SADI), the Paraguayan National Interconnected System (SINP), the Paraguayan-Brazilian Itaipú power plant and Yacyretá.
Tuesday’s test, which was “successful,” took 5 hours and allowed verification of the correct operation of the systems’ interconnection.

The test was conducted within the framework of a joint effort undertaken for several years by Argentina’s Compañía Administradora del Mercado Mayorista Eléctrico (CAMMESA), Paraguay’s Administración Nacional de Electricidad and the Yacyretá and Itaipú power plants.
“It should be noted that the final goal is to link the Argentine, Paraguayan, Uruguayan and Brazilian electricity systems,” noted the Yacyretá power plant.
According to the statement, once fully integrated, these systems “will work in an interconnected way and will provide a better quality service with greater reliability and flexibility in operations, achieving regional integration among the 4 countries in this field.”
