Idaho against abortion trafficking

Idaho Governor Brad Little this week signed into law a new crime within the United States, “abortion trafficking.”

The law restricts an adult from assisting when a minor chooses abortion without parental consent.

Specifically, the law prohibits an adult from providing abortion pills to minors if the minor’s parents do not consent.

It similarly criminalizes an adult “recruiting, harboring or transporting the pregnant minor” without such approval.

The penalties for violating the recently approved law range from two to five years in prison.

The minor’s parents or guardians may also sue violators.

Idaho is one of 13 US states that has criminalized abortion, regardless of the stage of the pregnancy.

Additionally, it is one of the few that has decided to impose penalties on people collaborating with women who choose to have an abortion.
