Authorities approves Virgin Atlantic’s operations in Brazil

The Brazilian aviation authority, Anac, has granted approval for Virgin Atlantic, a UK-based airline, to conduct flights between Brazil and the UK.

The service, set to commence in May 2024, will provide daily direct flights linking São Paulo and London, as per the information published in the Official Gazette on July 21.

In addition to Virgin Atlantic, Anac also recently granted permission to Arajet, a budget carrier from the Dominican Republic, to conduct operations within Brazil.

The airline plans to operate thrice-weekly flights from Santo Domingo to São Paulo’s Guarulhos International Airport.

Anac is currently assessing three more applications from companies seeking to operate in Brazil, including two passenger carriers and one cargo carrier.

As of now, 33 foreign airlines have been granted permission to operate regularly scheduled commercial flights within Brazil.
