Venezuela prepares to be certified as the fourth largest natural gas reserve in the world

The Venezuelan head of state, Nicolás Maduro, informed yesterday that his country is preparing to certify the natural gas fields throughout the territory’s northern coast and assured that it is emerging as the fourth reserve of the referred hydrocarbon worldwide.

“Today, we are certifying what could be called the Caribbean Gas Strip; the entire Venezuelan northern coast is full of gas. We are a blessed country with great riches”, celebrated the President.

The President announced his program Con Maduro +, which is broadcasted every Monday on the State channel.

He specified that in the northern coastal area of the country, there are more than 50 gas blocks and invited business people to invest in the South American nation.

“There we have more than 50 blocks; we could be talking about the fourth largest gas reserve in the world”, he commented.

“Welcome investors from around the world; the gas you need in Europe is in Venezuela; we have it here”, insisted the President.

Maduro’s statements come a week after the state-owned Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) signed an agreement with the Italian ENI and the Spanish Repsol for the export of natural gas liquids from the Cardón IV license (a company jointly managed by the aforementioned European companies).

With the energy export agreement, Venezuela is promoting the diversification of its economy after more than a century of oil dependence.
