Iranian Oil Minister received in Caracas to strengthen energy ties

The Venezuelan government informed on Tuesday night that the Minister of Petroleum of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Javad Owji, arrived in Caracas to hold high-level meetings with Venezuelan authorities to strengthen bilateral energy relations between the two nations.

Through the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry, Venezuela informed that Javad Owji is accompanied by a delegation in the Venezuelan capital until April 14 to develop “an intense work agenda, which includes meetings and visits to Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) facilities”.

In June last year, when President Nicolás Maduro visited Teheran, the capital of Iran, Venezuela, and Iran signed a 20-year strategic pact that includes, among other issues, cooperation in science and technology, as well as several energy agreements.

At that time, both nations agreed to strengthen their ties to jointly face the U.S. government’s sanctions imposed on both countries.
