Peru: Government to deploy police officers for agricultural and transportation strike
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Peru’s Minister of the Interior, Dimitri Senmache, explained on Sunday that the National Police is prepared to provide security and maintain control of public order given the announcement of an indefinite strike by transport unions and the agricultural sector Monday, June 27.
Senmache urged citizens to “not be afraid” because the police are prepared to provide security and maintain control of public order at all times, according to the RPP Noticias radio station.
Peruvian authorities will have some 130,000 police officers at their disposal to ensure national security.

The strike was ratified after no agreement was reached between the different unions and the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) in the last meetings.
Previously, the Peruvian Minister of Justice and spokesman of the Executive with the transport unions, Felix Chero, pointed out that the dialogue with said sector “had not been exhausted”.
“Conversations are being held with all sectors announcing some measure of struggle. We consider that the dialogue of the Executive is constant; it is permanent.
“They should give us an answer between 3 PM and 4 PM because they have gone to consult the consolidated proposals made by the Executive,” declared Chero.
