The official proclamation ceremonies of the 80 titular deputies and their respective alternates, and of the governors of the 17 departments of Paraguay, for the period 2023-2028, elected in the general elections of last April 30, took place this Wednesday.

Both acts were presided over by the President of the Superior Tribunal of Electoral Justice (TSJE), Jorge Bogarín González, accompanied by Vice President César Rossel and Minister Jaime Bestard, who were in charge of delivering the certificates and proclamation titles to the elected authorities.

The vice-president-elect, Deputy Pedro Alliana, attended the ceremony of proclamation of the deputies, and the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Carlos María López. In contrast, the ceremony of the order of the governors was attended by the president-elect, Santiago Peña.

Both events took place at the headquarters of the Electoral Justice, located in the capital city of Asunción.

It should be noted that the lower house of the South American country is made up of deputies representing the 17 departments of the country and the capital Asunción, whose number of seats is established by the number of voters in each department.

They will officially take office on June 30 of this year, together with the 45 elected senators proclaimed the day before, forming a new bicameral assembly of 125 members in the National Congress of Paraguay.
