Moscow and Managua agree to cooperate on the non-energy use of peaceful nuclear technologies

Russia and Nicaragua signed an agreement on cooperation in the non-energy use of peaceful nuclear technologies.

The ceremony, held in the Russian capital Moscow, was broadcast by Rossiya 24 TV.

Head of the Rosatom nuclear energy corporation Alexei Likhachov, who signed on behalf of Russia, declared that the country’s non-energy technologies “are as unique as they are absolutely sovereign”, and Moscow is ready to share them with its partners.

He stressed that the capabilities planned to be developed would have great potential for further export.

“In this way, Nicaragua can effectively become a leader in the supply of such technologies to other countries in the Latin American region,” he stressed.

Last November 21, Russia and Nicaragua signed a roadmap for the peaceful use of atomic energy, outlining the guidelines for cooperation.
