Bomb threat reported at Argentine presidential palace

The Buenos Aires City Police recently relayed that they had been alerted to a bomb threat at the Casa Rosada, Argentina’s government headquarters.

The emergency system 911 received a call from an individual claiming to be a Casa Rosada security team member, who stated that someone had approached him, alleging they had placed an explosive device in the presidential hall.

Government sources have confirmed the legitimacy of the threat, but no evidence or actual explosives were found on the premises.

This incident occurred simultaneously as the Argentine government was briefing on the status of the electoral process.

On August 13, Argentine citizens were participating in preliminaries to select candidates for the upcoming presidential election in October 2023.

During a press conference led by the Presidential Secretary, Julio Vitobello, detailing the elections, the bomb threat call was made to the 911 Police Complex, as per local newspaper La Nación.

The initial reporting on the event came from the Noticias Argentinas (NA) news agency, referencing sources from the Casa Militar, responsible for President Alberto Fernández’s security.
