Argentina reports record beef exports in first half of year

Argentine beef exports reached a record US$1.75 billion in the first half of the year, up 39.4 percent from the same period in 2021, the Rosario Stock Exchange reported today, Friday.

In this way, the value of beef shipments increased by US$457 million from US$1,293 million to the current level.

“Analyzing the evolution of the indicators for 2022, we can say that exports have recovered significantly, achieving in the first six months of this year the largest shipments of goods in the history of this period,” the Rosario Stock Exchange said in a statement.

According to the company, the increase in foreign exchange earnings is mainly due to the rise in international meat prices, as the volume increased by 0.85 percent from 418,200 tons to 421,770 tons.

“Taking into account the small increase in shipments, the increase in value was largely in line with the increase in international prices for the product, which rose 38.2% during the period,” the exchange said.

Despite the record exports, the Rosario Stock Exchange pointed to the decline in the share of the foreign sector in total production.

According to the company, meat production grew by 3.4% in the first half of the year, and exports registered a share of 28.3% compared to 29% in the first half of 2021.
