The Brazilian government wants to create three million hectares of natural parks

The Brazilian government intends to create three million hectares of natural parks, Environment Minister Marina Silva announced on June 5 at an event to celebrate World Environment Day.

Among the measures announced are the "creation of three million hectares of conservation units", the incorporation into the State of all public lands that have not been assigned a purpose, and the protection of 230,000 kilometers of land along riverbanks.

It is also planned to "seize 50%" of the illegally identified deforested area, expand the number of strategic bases, police stations, and airplanes of the Federal Police and the Armed Forces . . .
