Mobilization of truck drivers in Brazil gains strength and increase rumors of strike

The recent actions of Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes against the anti-Lula demonstrations seem to have regrouped truck drivers from all over the country.

Videos are already circulating on social networks showing new mobilizations and several drivers getting rid of their loads in the middle of the road, reportedly due to a possible general strike.

This week, the image of several trucks and tractors stopped in Brasilia in protest against the order of Moraes that blocked 43 bank accounts of companies of individuals accused of supporting the peaceful demonstrations circulated on social networks.

In another video, supposedly recorded this Saturday morning (19), several truck drivers are filmed throwing their trucks’ cargo on the highway.

“The guys here opened the trucks’ spout [ …] the line of stopped trucks is huge,” said a profile that posted the video on Twitter.

Last Wednesday (17), a video also circulated on the web, in which a man claiming to be the owner of a Brazilian transportation company said that his trucks would be stopped for 30 days.

The aim would be to force the Armed Forces to take an attitude towards the allegedly rigged election, which gave victory to Lula da Silva.

According to Twitter profiles, several trucks continue arriving in Brasilia this Saturday (19), and there is already a call for a new mobilization in front of the Army Headquarters in the federal capital next Sunday (20).
