The Brazilian Parliament yesterday approved the general budget for 2023, the first year of President-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's new term, with a considerable increase in public spending.
Federal deputies and senators approved Thursday in a joint session the budget for 2023, which contemplates state spending of R$5.340 trillion (US$1.1 trillion), of which 40 percent will go to public debt commitments and maturities.
