Brazil: staple foods rise above inflation

Some staple foods of the Brazilian table closed the month of March with price increases above inflation.

The list includes chicken eggs, long-life milk, bread, rice, and beans.

On average, prices in March were 4.65% higher than 12 months before, according to the Broad Consumer Price Index, measured by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).

For the same interval, the value of carioca beans rose by 22.65% and rice by 12.28%.
