Brazil will allocate $400 million to enhance security in the Amazon, according to Ricardo Capelli, Executive Secretary of the Justice Ministry.
The strategy will establish 34 new security outposts. A National Security Force command center and an international cooperation hub will also be set up.
Capelli remarked, “We are launching a bold plan called ‘Secure and Sovereign Amazon.'” This initiative includes 34 bases, with 28 on land and six on rivers.
He stressed the need for unified policies to battle rising organized crime rates.
“Organized crime ignores borders,” he stated. “We’re facing criminal acts not just in Brazil’s Amazon, but also in neighboring nations.”
Capelli highlighted the plan during an event. This event was the 13th Week of Citizen Security and Justice.
It’s a collaboration with the Inter-American Development Bank and Bahia’s government.
