Brazil registered a dispute over land or water every 4 hours in 2022

In 2022, 2.018 conflicts in the countryside were registered, involving 909 thousand people and about 80 million hectares of land in dispute throughout the national territory, corresponding to an average of one conflict every 4 hours.

The data are in the annual report on violence in the countryside, released by the CPT (Pastoral Land Commission) on Monday (17).

These numbers indicate an increase of 10.39% in relation to the previous year when 1,828 total occurrences of rural conflicts . . .
