Brazil: Paranaguá Port records largest daily bulk shipment

The Port of Paranaguá registered last week the highest daily shipment volume of 2023.

In a single day, about 117,798 tonnes of soybeans and soybean meal were loaded only by the East Export Corridor.

The milestone was registered on April 12, but the high expectation continues for the entire second quarter.

The terminals and operators that use not only the complex but also the other berths west of the Paraná port expect to ship for export 8,326,500 tonnes of dry bulk from this month of April until next June.

The volume, if reached, will be 38.8% higher than the consolidated first quarter of 2023, which recorded 5,999,490 tonnes shipped.

“This year, our focus has been on improving productivity rates with the terminals and port operators,” says the CEO of Ports of Paraná, Luiz Fernando Garcia.

“Together with the entire port community, we have sought to optimize our operational times, almost zeroing the idleness of the berths,” he explains.

According to the expectation of the dry bulk operators, the volume of soybean foreseen for shipment in this second quarter of the year reaches 5,502,500 tonnes.

Of the product in bran, another 1,397,000 tonnes and sugar, 1,395,000 tonnes.

Of corn, the expected amount is considered small – 32,000 tonnes.
