Brazil: Bolsonaro vents about the difficulties of the presidency and his desire to return to office

In a speech at New Hope Church, an evangelical church in Orlando, former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro vented about the difficulties as head of the Brazilian Executive.

Among other things, he stated that he sometimes forgot he had a wife.

“At first, I’d say, ‘My God, what was my sin? To be sitting in this chair. Only problems.’ Sometimes, mate, you don’t even remember you have a wife. It is true. You come home, she (Michelle) is sleeping, or when she leaves, I am sleeping.”

Michelle returned to Brazil at the end of January for the beginning of the school year of her daughter Laura, 11 years old.

Bolsonaro is still in the US with no date for his return, but he revealed a desire to return to the presidency.

“But (being president) was an experience I understand as a mission. And, if He understands it that way, I understand that this mission is not over yet.”

The president’s ramblings about the office are nothing new. In 2020, Bolsonaro spoke of having no peace during an official event.

“My life here is a mess. It’s trouble all the time. I have no peace for absolutely nothing. I can no longer drink sugarcane juice in the street or eat a pastel. When I go out, the press comes to disturb me.”
