33% of Brazilians intend to move house by 2023, according to survey
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – One in three Brazilians intends to change their residence until 2023, according to a Datafolha survey commissioned by QuintoAndar. And what motivates those who want to breathe new air is: the achievement of homeownership.
The survey also shows that the desire is more frequent among those who live in rentals (58%) and apartments (38%). And that people from São Paulo are the most likely to change (36%), ahead of people from Rio de Janeiro (34%) and Belo Horizonte (26%).
The survey was conducted in person with 3,186 Brazilians over the age of 20, from all country regions, between October 11 and 21. The margin of error is two percentage points.

Of the 33% of those interviewed who intend to move within the next two years, 36% put personal projects – such as owning their own house (19%) or living close to work (4%) – as the main reason.
Another 45% point to dissatisfaction with the neighborhood and items related to the property – such as a more spacious place (11%) and structural problems (10%).
TO MOVE OR NOT TO MOVE? THAT IS THE QUESTION.
The survey also reveals that 36% of Brazilians would change the neighborhood where they live if it were possible. This desire is greater in the metropolitan regions of Rio de Janeiro (49%) and São Paulo (48%), and the countryside (43%).
On the other end, 34% of those interviewed said they liked their neighborhood. Satisfaction increases according to income. The region with the most satisfied people is the Southeast (38%), followed by the Northeast (37%), the North (35%), and the South (31%). The national average score for satisfaction with the neighborhood is 7.4.
Besides bringing information about the residential market in the country, QuintoAndar says that the survey portrays the habits, wishes, and desires of Brazilians. The company operates in more than 50 cities in Brazil and has over 150,000 contracts and R$80 billion in assets under management today.
