Venezuelan government delivers 4.6 million homes under housing program

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro announced that the government’s housing program, Gran Misión Vivienda Venezuela, has delivered its 4.6 millionth housing unit.

Despite facing numerous challenges, the initiative aims to provide homes to the nation’s most vulnerable citizens.

The President commented on the impact of U.S. sanctions on Venezuela’s economy and national income.

He stressed the significance of this housing delivery, pondering how much further the program might have progressed without the imposed sanctions.

Maduro indicated that even under external pressures, the government continues to prioritize its subsidized housing construction program, emphasizing it as a symbol of the people’s right to housing.

He reiterated that despite the socio-economic impact of the sanctions, Venezuela strives to persevere and maintain productivity.

As part of the housing initiative, substantial resources have been committed, including 39,580 tons of cement and 16,766 tons of steel.

To date, the program has seen the construction of 1,255 housing developments across 9,837 hectares.

Maduro reassured that the public housing policy would persist in various forms, regardless of external pressures.
