US and UK Strike Houthi Targets in Yemen

On January 22, 2024, the United States and the United Kingdom launched coordinated strikes in Yemen.

They targeted eight Houthi rebel sites, receiving support from Australia, Bahrain, Canada, and the Netherlands.

The Houthis, since November, have attacked commercial vessels in the Red Sea. These attacks show their solidarity with Palestinians and Hamas. The Houthi flag symbolizes this alliance.

This recent operation marks the eighth US-led attack on Houthi targets in January. It’s the second time the UK joined in.

The strikes were specifically aimed at an underground storage site and missile launch areas of the Houthis.

The US targets these sites to disrupt Houthi operations, seen as threats to global trade and sailor safety. The US deems Houthi actions illegal, dangerous, and disruptive.

The coalition’s effort aims to maintain global order and secure maritime trade routes. They strive to hold the Houthis accountable for their actions.
