Dress code tip: Overcast skies keep temperatures manageable for a Monday walk along the Aterro do Flamengo or the Copacabana boardwalk. Carry a compact umbrella — 68% chance of scattered afternoon showers. The forecast improves significantly by Wednesday (30°C, only 20% rain), and Carnaval weekend looks warm and mostly dry. Today is a light layer and comfortable shoes kind of day.

\n

\n

\n

Monday is the quiet after the storm. The final pré-carnaval weekend saw 118 official blocos across the city — Cordão da Bola Preta drew 50,000 to Centro on Saturday, Suvaco do Cristo bid farewell in Jardim Botânico, and Empolga às 9 packed Ipanema. The Cidade Maravilhosa gave everything.

This is part of The Rio Times’ daily coverage of Rio de Janeiro business and economic developments.

\n

Today the city recovers. No official blocos are scheduled. This is the golden window — the last stretch when museums are calm, restaurants take walk-ins, and the Metrô runs on time. Use it wisely before the Sambódromo takes over on Friday.

\n

The overcast skies make this a perfect museum day. CCBB‘s Viva Mauricio immersive is the family hit. MAM Rio’s Daniel Buren project and Bob Wolfenson’s closing Amazônia show at Museu do Amanhã are essential before Carnaval closures begin.
