Portuguese call for protest against Lula’s visit: “A thief’s place is in prison”
Informed of Lula’s visit to Portugal on the 25th, the Chega party organized a protest against the presence of the Brazilian President.
The party used social networks to call the population to the act. In the call, the Portuguese said: “A thief’s place is in prison. We don’t want Lula da Silva in Portugal.”
According to the original schedule of Lula’s visit to Portugal, he was to speak in Parliament on April 25, which marks the end of the Portuguese military dictatorship.

Lula’s participation, however, was barred by the parliamentarians. The PT member will only participate in a solemn welcoming session.
“On April 25, we all go to the Assembly of the Republic to show that we don’t want Lula da Silva in Portugal. Starting at 9 am.”
“Join us! You are not welcome: #ForaLula!” the party’s official Twitter account wrote.
Founded in 2019, the No More party defines itself as conservative, liberal, and nationalist.
Also, via Twitter, the party’s President, MP André Ventura, reinforced the call.
“We already have too much corruption in Portugal; we don’t need to import it! Join us, in front of Parliament, on April 25, starting at 9 am. We need everyone!” the MP wrote.
In January, during a session in the Portuguese Parliament, Ventura was censored by the President of the session for calling Lula a “bandit.”
The President of the Assembly, socialist Augusto Santos Silva, said that “this is an offensive expression about the president of a country that is very friendly with Portugal.”
Ventura replied, “It is difficult to refer to the president of Brazil in any other way.”
