The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) confirmed the pre-list submitted to FIFA for September’s World Cup qualifiers.
Neymar is back after recovering from a knee injury, while Real Madrid forwards Vinícius Júnior and Endrick are absent. Coach Carlo Ancelotti must submit an extended list to FIFA before the final call-up.
This procedure allows changes if players suffer late injuries. The CBF shared the pre-list with clubs this week. Neymar’s inclusion is notable.
He has not appeared in a Brazil squad since February, when injury during the São Paulo state championship forced his removal. Recently he returned to action with Santos, which matches Ancelotti’s previous statement that Neymar would return once fit.
Trusted internationals also appear. Éder Militão and Rodrygo, both previously coached by Ancelotti at Real Madrid, rejoin after missing the May call. Casemiro and Richarlison remain in the group.
Domestic players are present as well. The list includes Marcos Antônio from São Paulo, Kaio Jorge from Cruzeiro, and Botafogo’s Danilo and Vitinho.
Their inclusion signals Ancelotti’s intention to evaluate local talent now that Brazil has already secured qualification for the 2026 World Cup. Two exclusions stand out. Vinícius Júnior is suspended for the match against Chile because of yellow card accumulation.
Since Brazil is already qualified, Ancelotti chose not to use him against Bolivia either. Endrick, who recently moved from Palmeiras to Real Madrid, is absent while recovering from a muscle injury.
The CBF will release the final 23-man squad on August 25. Brazil then plays Chile at the Maracanã on September 4 and Bolivia in La Paz on September 9.
These games serve mainly as preparation but allow Ancelotti to balance proven veterans with emerging Brazilian league talent.
