Chile: Exponaval brings together more than 70 leading companies in naval equipment in Valparaíso
The Minister of National Defense of Chile, Maya Fernández, will inaugurate this Tuesday, November 29, at the Puerto Valparaíso Passenger Terminal, the XII International Naval and Maritime Exhibition and Conference for Latin America, Exponaval 2022.
Exponaval, a biennial event organized by Fisa, a GL Events company, has brought together navies and the main leading companies in the development of technological solutions for the naval and defense industry since 1998.

The companies exhibit at this fair, the most important naval and maritime defense in Latin America, the latest advances in design, construction and integration of systems in surface combat ships, submarines, LPD, OPV and patrol boats; communications equipment; radars; sonars; missiles; propulsion systems; ground weapons as well as scouting planes, helicopters and UAVs, among other products.

Some of the most representative shipbuilding companies such as Astilleros y Maestranzas de la Armada (Asmar), Babcock, Cotecmar, Hyundai Heavy Industries, Naval Group and NVL will be present at Exponaval, as well as specialist firms in aircraft, electronics, vehicles and weapons such as Airbus, Aselsan, DTS, Enaer, Famae, L3 Harris, Leonardo, MBDA, Patria, Rohde & Schwarz, Saab, Saes and Sisdef, among others.
The XII edition of Exponaval will take place in a 14,500 m2 pavilion. The exhibition will be attended by representatives of Navies from more than 20 countries, will have more than 70 exhibiting companies, will have more than 300 business meetings and expects to receive 25,000 professional visits.
INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
The central theme of the 12th Exponaval International Conference will be The Challenges for a Maritime Condition in the XXI Century and will have panels with leading experts of recognized national and global trajectory who will carry out a complete analysis of the new challenges in this matter.
On November 30, it will open with a master class from the former Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Australian Navy, Michael Noonan, and later the panel The Relevance of being a Maritime Power will take place, in which the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Royal Navy, Vice Admiral Martin Connell; professors Alessio Patalano from King’s College London and Fernando Wilson from the Chilean Naval Warfare Academy.
The second panel of the day will be Chile and its National Oceanic Policy: Are we a Maritime Power? which will include the director of the Environment, Climate Change and Oceans of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile, Julio Cordano; the former president of the board of directors of the Public Companies System, Loreto Seguel; the Director of Security and Maritime Operations, Commodore LT Carlos Fredes; and Professor Matías Purcell from the Naval War Academy.
On Thursday, December 1, the theme Challenges of Shipbuilding and its Contribution to the National Industry will be presented, in which the general director of the Chilean Navy Services, Vice Admiral Pablo Niemann, the vice-president of Business Development of Babcock International Group, Jonathan Walton; and the Vice President of Latin America of Naval Group, Olivier Michel.
