Brazil trade balance has surplus of US$2 billion in October
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Brazilian trade balance recorded a surplus of US$2.003 billion in October, down 54.5% over the same period last year, by daily average, according to figures released on Wednesday (3) by the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex) of the Ministry of Economy.
In the first ten months of the year, the accumulated balance is positive at US$58.578 billion, up 29.6% over the same period in 2020.

Exports totaled US$22.519 billion last month. Based on the daily average, there was an increase of 27.6% over the performance of the same month in 2020. Imports, on the other hand, reached US$ 20.515 billion and had an increase, also based on the daily average, of 54.9% over October of last year.
In 2021, exports totaled US$235.870 billion, an increase of 36%, according to the daily average, in relation to the same period in 2020. Imports, on the other hand, were US$177.291 billion, an increase of 38.3% on the same basis of comparison.
In October, exports in the agriculture and cattle-raising sector grew 19.36%, by the daily average, in relation to the same month in the previous year. There was an increase of 40.54% in the extractive industry, and in the transformation industry, 24.44%.
On the imports side, there was a 45.09% increase in agriculture and cattle raising, 141.74% in the extractive industry, and 51.38% in the transformation industry.
In its most recent projection, the Secretariat estimates that the trade balance in 2021 will show a surplus of US$70.9 billion, the difference between US$281.0 billion in exports and US$210.1 billion in imports. The estimated total trade flow would be US$491.1 billion.
