City of São Paulo inflation slows to 0.39% in the first reading of March
Inflation in the city of São Paulo had its sixth consecutive week of deceleration – started in late January – to 0.39% in the first reading of March, according to the Consumer Price Index (IPC) calculated by the Economic Research Institute Foundation (Fipe).
In the same four weeks of 2022, Fipe’s IPC registered a price increase of 0.94%.
The one released at the end of February was 0.43%.

In the first measurement last month, accumulated inflation stood at 0.52% in the 30 days to date.
Despite the slight drop in price hikes, five of the seven categories that make up the indicator showed higher inflation compared to the previous week:
- Foodstuffs (0.36% to 0.42%),
- Transportation (0.21% to 0.41%),
- Personal Expenses (0.24% to 0.36%),
- Health (0.15% to 0.23%),
- and Education (0.32% to 0.35%).
Only Housing (0.61% to 0.29%) and Clothing (1.09% to 1.00%) registered lower inflation by this basis of comparison.
The percentage variations in the reading published today are relative to prices collected between February 8 and March 7, compared to those recorded between January 8 and February 7.
The next release, with the inflation for the second forecast, will take place on the 17th.
