Venezuela and Russia to expand economic cooperation

Venezuela and Russia are planning to bolster their economic relationship, according to Caracas Mayor Carmen Meléndez.

She shared this following her meeting with the head of Moscow’s Department of Foreign Economic and International Relations, Serguéi Cheriómin.

The goal is to fortify alliances between the two nations in the economic sector.

During their visit to Moscow, the Venezuelan delegation, which included Meléndez and the Minister of Petroleum, Rafael Tellechea, explored different aspects of the city, learning about urban maintenance, beautification, and conservation initiatives.

They also held a discussion regarding regional security and information policy with Moscow’s Deputy Mayor, Alexander Gorbenko.

On July 17, seven agreements were signed between Venezuela and Russia.

These ranged from implementing a sports cooperation program, a memorandum of understanding between the airlines Aeroflot and Conviasa, to establishing a center for studying and preventing infectious diseases.

The meeting also covered collaboration in various sectors including credit, banking, finance, energy, military technology, pharmaceuticals, and health.

Over the past two decades, 326 agreements have been made between the two countries in a variety of sectors.

The most recent visit is a continuation of this long-standing bilateral cooperation.
