Radio owner arrested for allegedly supporting demonstrators traveling to Brasilia for January 8 Lula protests

The Federal Police has arrested Milton de Oliveira Júnior, a businessman and broadcaster, on accusations of financially supporting the transportation of demonstrators from Itapetininga to protest against the election of Lula in Brasilia.

This arrest was part of the ongoing Operation Lesa Pátria, investigating acts of vandalism on January 8.

Milton Oliveira’s radio station, which was an affiliate of Jovem Pan, lost its contract after he openly admitted on air to contributing to the transportation expenses of some demonstrators.

His statement was directed at Simone Marquetto, a former mayor of Itapetininga and current federal deputy, who had discussed the issue in an interview with another media outlet.

The Supreme Court (STF) issued the arrest warrant based on alleged involvement in crimes such as the violent abolition of the democratic rule of law, coup d’état, qualified damage, criminal association, incitement to crime, and destruction of protected property.
