Likewise, during his annual message before the Venezuelan Parliament, the president underlined that last year’s tax collection reached an increase of 97 percent with respect to 2021.

He also pointed out that, due to the diversification of external sources of foreign currency income to the country, non-traditional exports registered an increase of 151.6 percent.

He indicated that the South American country’s imports also grew 106 percent, going from 4 billioin dollars in 2021 to 8.2 billion in 2022.

Meanwhile, Maduro said that statistical estimates indicate that “Venezuela registered a loss of gross income of 232 billion dollars, a product of the illegal sanctions” and a total patrimonial damage that reached 642 billion dollars in eight years.

The Head of State acknowledged that, despite the nascent recovery, strong disturbances in the exchange rate generate high inflationary pressure in the country.

He said, “we are aware and acting to stabilize the market and stop inflation”.
