Venezuela reaffirms willingness to continue defending strategic interests with Qatar

The Government of Venezuela hailed the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations with Qatar, reaffirming the willingness to continue jointly defending the resources and strategic interests for the benefit of both nations.

“Venezuela reaffirms the strengthening of the bonds of friendship between our governments, through the historical relations of cooperation, brotherhood, solidarity, as well as the willingness to continue jointly defending our resources and strategic interests, as a guarantee of future and welfare for our peoples,” reads a statement from the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry.

In the text, the Government highlighted that after the coming to power of then-President Hugo Chávez (1999-2013), both nations consolidated a bond of brotherhood, closeness, and respect.

The communiqué affirms that President Nicolás Maduro and Sheikh Hamad bin Tamin bin remain in search of a more humane world based on promoting peace and fraternal dialogue between nations, the communiqué detailed.

In June 2022, Maduro visited Qatar for his Eurasia and Africa international tour. At that time, the President met with businessmen of that country and the Qatari emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Thani, with whom he discussed energy projects.

In addition, Maduro reviewed with the local government and businessmen the investment plans in his country in various areas.
