Venezuela and Russia discuss international agenda to promote cooperation

Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Yván Gil, said he met with Sergey Mélik-Bagdasárov, the Russian ambassador to Venezuela.

The meeting focused on bilateral topics tied to the upcoming international agenda and challenges inherent to global geopolitics.

The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry, via its official website, disclosed that the diplomats discussed the international agenda concerning the BRICS and the High-Level Intergovernmental Commission (CIAN), strengthening ties between Russia and Venezuela.

Gil expressed that the session aimed to “assess bilateral agenda topics, always keeping communication channels open to enhance unity in the face of challenges confronting our countries.”

The Russian ambassador in the South American nation labeled it “an honor to meet with Foreign Minister Yván Gil ahead of significant international events.”

“We exchanged views on the current global situation and reviewed our bilateral agenda with a forward-looking perspective,” commented Mélik-Bagdasárov.

Last month, Gil met with Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Sergey Vershinin, during the ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement’s Coordination Bureau.

During this meeting, Caracas and Moscow agreed on joint strategies to bolster the Group of Friends in Defense of the United Nations Charter.

Furthermore, on July 17th, Russia and Venezuela signed a Joint Declaration, advocating for “upholding principles in favor of a fairer multipolar global order” and opposing unilateral sanctions against Russia and Venezuela.
