Venezuela and Iran ratify cooperation against U.S. sanctions

The Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Yván Gil, spoke today with his Iranian counterpart, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, on matters related to cooperation in all areas, despite the harsh U.S. sanctions against both nations.

The official website of the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry reported that both diplomats talked in detail about the bilateral work agenda and highlighted essential aspects related to a visit that the President of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, will make to Caracas in the near future.

“The strategic alliance between Venezuela and Iran translates into cooperation in all areas, which results in favoring the economic reactivation of Venezuela, this being an essential action to overcome the onslaught of the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the U.S. Government”, the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry stressed.

During the conversation, the Venezuelan diplomat “thanked the Islamic Republic of Iran for the consistent support granted to Venezuela during the years it has been subjected to the imposition of unilateral coercive measures of the common enemy: Western imperialism”.

In recent years, cooperation between Iran and Venezuela has been strengthened in different areas of mutual interest, among which science and technology, the health, and oil sectors stand out.

The United States heavily sanctions both nations and restricts their economic transactions considerably.
