Peruvian oil production falls in July, gas output rises 25%

In July, Peru witnessed a 7% decline in its oil production compared to the same month the previous year, and liquid hydrocarbon production fell by 11%.

On the other hand, the nation recorded its lowest natural gas production for the year, yet it marked a 25% increase compared to July 2022, as per the monthly statistics released in Lima.

The daily oil output for July stood at 37,003 barrels, a drop from June’s 41,200 barrels, as reported by the state-owned firm, Perúpetro.

Key contributors included Lot 95 in the Amazonian region of Loreto, producing 11,405 barrels, and Lot X in northern Piura, with 9,847 barrels, while several other lots reported no production.

Liquid hydrocarbon production declined to 94,890 barrels daily in July from 122,800 barrels in June, marking an 11% drop year-over-year.

Regarding natural gas, July’s production was 1,204 cubic feet per day, a notable 25% rise from July 2022, despite being the lowest figure for 2023.

Natural gas liquid output also decreased, reporting 57,887 cubic feet daily, down from June’s 81,629 cubic feet.

Companies active in July included Pluspetrol, producing 49,017 cubic feet daily, and Repsol with 8,202 cubic feet per day.
