MEXICO ADDS 11 WEEKS OF DECLINE IN CASES AND DEATHS FROM COVID-19
Mexico celebrates 11 weeks of a continuous decline in cases, hospitalizations and deaths from COVID-19, reported Dr. Ruy López Ridaura, general director of the National Center for Preventive Programs and Disease Control.

“The last week is the lowest point we have had in the pandemic since it began,” he stressed and explained that until September 24 there is a record of 616 new infections, while in general beds the occupation remains at 3% and in those of ventilator at 1%.
ANNOUNCE QUESTIONS FOR CONSULTATION ON THE PRESENCE OF THE ARMED FORCES IN THE STREETS
The Secretary of the Interior, Adán Augusto López, announced that the consultation on the extension of the presence of the Armed Forces in security tasks will be in charge of the Segob and an honorary citizen committee on January 22, 2023. Citizens will be able to participate by presenting CURP and an official photo ID. It will consist of 3 questions and will be secret. The results will be announced on January 24. Participation will be in person or electronically through the agency’s portal.
Augusto López announced that the consultation will have the questions:
1. “Do you agree with the creation of the National Guard and its performance so far?”
2. “Do you think that the Armed Forces, the Army and the Navy should continue doing public security work until 2028 or that they return to their barracks in March 2024?”
3. “What is your opinion that the National Guard becomes part of the Sedena, that it passes to the Segob or that it returns to the SSPC?”
In addition, he stressed that this will not be binding, so if the current proposal does not pass in Congress, the consultation would be taken into account to carry out another subsequent initiative.
“It is not a popular consultation because we are respectful of the legal system,” explained Adán Augusto López after presenting the “participatory exercise to listen to the opinion of the people on matters of public security.”
ELIMINATION OF DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME
Adán Augusto López hoped that next week the Chamber of Deputies will approve the proposal to eliminate summer time and then it will be approved in the Senate, with which the normal time would remain throughout the year.
AMLO AFTER HIS SIX-YEAR TERM PREFERS TO GO TO HELL
The president of Mexico said that when he dies he will go to heaven, but he repeated that he would only like to go to hell to see how many forgers he finds there.
“I am going to end the government and with the savings that Beatriz has, with my ISSSTE pension, plus the pension for the elderly, with that I will have income so that I do not lack the essentials,” he says. He confirms that when he finishes his post he will leave completely and has no plans to travel.
LIQUEFACTION PLANT IN COATZACOALCOS
AMLO announced that they plan to build a liquefaction plant in Coatzacoalcos to be able to transport gas in ships to Europe, he affirmed that they already have the land and the plans, while the construction of which would be carried out by private initiative.
EXIT OF OMAR GÓMEZ TREJO AS PROSECUTOR OF THE AYOTZINAPA CASE
López Obrador confirmed during the morning the departure of Omar Gómez Trejo as prosecutor of the Ayotzinapa case, assured that soon the FGR will appoint another head, reiterating that he will not allow impunity for the disappearance of the 43 normalistas, in addition to the fact that no one will be able to “derail the investigation” despite pressure.
“The prosecutor [Gómez Trejo] is leaving because he did not agree with the procedures that were followed to approve the arrest warrants in the Ayotzinapa case, and I support the fact that the arrest warrants have been issued, in accordance with what is established by the document, the result of an investigation that took a long time,” said AMLO.
After the leak of the Ayotzinapa case, López Obrador affirmed that he would not have to impact the criminal process, affirming that the opposition would take advantage of everything that is censored, for which he reiterated his position on releasing all the information on the investigation, although he limited that what has not been presented has been because of the “horrendous and painful details” in the case.
