Bomb threat on Netherlands-Ecuador flight prompts emergency response

The Mariscal Sucre Airport in Quito, Ecuador, activated its Emergency Operations Committee today following a bomb threat on a KLM airline flight originating from Amsterdam, Netherlands, as reported by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation.

In a statement shared on social media, Quito International Airport announced that the incident was reported at 14:41 local time on the flight arriving from Amsterdam.

It stated that the National Police’s specialized units were executing the necessary security protocols.

The airport’s emergency services remain on high alert to handle the situation effectively.

The Ecuadorian National Police confirmed the deployment of specialized units in response to the alert of an explosive device on board an airplane originating from the Netherlands.

The aircraft has been escorted to a secure location, and passenger evacuation is currently underway to facilitate a thorough search, according to the National Police.
