Morales lashes out at Arce amid Bolivia’s economic crisis

On Tuesday, former Bolivian President Evo Morales lashed out at his successor in power, Luis Arce, pointing him out for not defending with conviction the economic model implemented between 2006 and 2019 amid the crisis unleashed during the current government administration.

“We regret that for not adequately defending and applying the achievements of the Nationalization and the Social Productive Community Economic Model, they have to seek loans in the US,” the coca growers’ leader tweeted.

At the same time, Morales accused Arce of “submitting” to the designs of “agencies of the empire” through the country’s indebtedness.

During the last few years, Bolivia is experiencing a climate in which its international reserves have fallen to minimum levels, at around US$3.8 billion.

The nation’s economic problems have sparked criticism amid the internal war that has been raging for months between members of the ruling Movement Towards Socialism (MAS) who support Morales and those who support President Arce.
