Bolivia projects GDP growth of 4.86% in 2023

The Bolivian government reaffirmed this Wednesday its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth projection of 4.86 percent in 2023, despite the new estimate of the World Bank (WB), which lowered it to 2.5 percent for the South American country.

However, the Bolivian Ministry of Economy and Finance, in an official statement released this day, highlighted that the WB maintains Bolivia as one of the economies of the South American region with the best growth perspective in 2023 amid a complex international context that anticipates a general deceleration.

“The World Bank positions Bolivia among the three economies with the best growth projection in the region with 2.5 percent for 2023, below Paraguay (4.8 percent) and Ecuador (2.6 percent) and above Peru, Uruguay, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina and Chile”, highlighted the institutional note.

The Vice-Minister of Budget and Fiscal Accounting, Zenón Mamani, told Xinhua today that the WB’s projections, although lower than those programmed by the fiscal pact between the Central Bank of Bolivia (BCB) and the Government, keep the country among the best in the region.

According to the Ministry of Economy, in a complex international environment, the Bolivian economy continues on the path of reconstruction and economic reactivation, as shown by the indicators with “the strength of stability”.
